DESCRIPTION: SEE SPECIAL SHIPPING NOTE at end of description (NO IN-HOUSE SHIPPING). Antique long guns - A. Davis, Over Under Swivel Breech Flintlock Kentucky Long Rifle, circa 1840, .39 caliber rifled barrel and .40 caliber smooth bore barrel, brass sliding trigger guard which operates the swivel barrel lock, steel lock plate with pinned opposite side and swan neck cock, right side engraved "A. Davis," straight steel tang, American tiger maple stock with cheek rest and carved details as well as an inset star pattern and brass hinged patch box, brass button inset on stock bottom reads 603, brass curved moon butt plate, 31.25 inch octagonal barrels with fixed front blade sights, top of each barrel marked "A. Davis". A truly impressive and incredibly rare piece of American firearms history; swivel breech firearms don't come up for auction often. Rifle measures 46.25 inches in length and weighs approximately 9 pounds; includes a soft protective gun case. NOTE: No in-house shipping available. CONDITION: Good action, however the rotating barrel does not sit completely flush with the stock, ramrod missing end cap; fine overall cosmetic condition, fine bore with ample oxidation, metal surfaces with ample surface spotting, pitting and finish loss, small dings and fine scratches are scattered about the steelwork, both frizzens are heavily pitted with one being worse than the other, lead solder repairs to brass evident in several areas; fine walnut stock with evidence of numerous small repairs including a pinned crack near the trigger as well as several other cracks throughout the stock, chipped wood located around the frizzen spring and frizzen on both sides; trigger guard with ample dings and scratches from years of use.
